Design

PlayStation

The hardware presented immediately gives of its a Sony vibe, The slim and well structured design is roughly the size of the PS3 slim version. It can come in two different colours both jet black and shiny White. Compared to the XBox 1 it is longer and taller and has more of a geometric touch. The Front face has a crevice to where one inserts the CD (Left) and there are also two Usb ports to the right. 

The Back Ports are neatly tucked away in the console leaving no external ports, this helps to remove clutter and allows for more space. The console itself is meant to be placed flat on its side but if you only have room for an upright console Sony created a plastic stand that stands it upright.

The controller built up on the common PlayStation Controller adding a few new features. It sports a new click able touch pad and some say it has the best triggers on any game pad to date. Though it does have its pros the controller lacks in battery life and the analogue sticks have a slippery coating which may be an annoyance at some times.

History 

Mark Cerny the lead architect stated that the development of the Ps4 started as early as 2008. As the Ps3 had already encountered major problems in production delaying its launch by months and Europe's CeO Jim Ryan stated that The Successor Will not repeat the same mistakes. Sony worked in conjunction with a software company called Bungie who then offered input on the new controller to make it better for shooting games.

In 2003 Sony announced that they would be hosting an event called PlayStation meeting 2013 where they had announced the future of the PlayStation as a console and in turn Announced the plans for the PlayStation 4. They covered several details about the hardware an also discussing some new features that will be available. Moreover they showed videos of games that where in development for the PS4. During the Electronic Entertainment Expo Sony officially unveiled the PS4 with new features.
